What's up with @corviphagy?
You may have started following my twitter when it was @kai_fox
I created that handle in 2011, when a friend in the furry community took me along to a local meetup. I've changed a lot since then, so this account has been reinvented as a place to post my artwork and less-filtered commentary. My DMs are open if you have any questions!
What happened to all your old tweets? There was a lot of negativity on my timeline. I was abused by several people who I thought were trustworthy. They and their narrative were embraced by the community, and my spouse and I were ostracized. I vent-tweeted quite a bit about the situation. While I remain bitter, and they remain unpunished for their abuse, I’ve elected to give myself a fresh start. I downloaded an archive of my tweets before clearing out my timeline completely.
So are you still a furry?I don’t think I’ve ever identified that way personally. I did get made fun of at furry meets and parties for saying that I wasn’t a furry, though. After all, I draw furry art, own/make fursuits, am romantically involved with two furries, and used to help run a furry convention. Seems like I would be one, right? I would argue that while all those things are true, “furry” occupies a very small fraction of my interests. I’m far more interested in practical effects, transformative art, Star Trek, ecology, video gaming, music, baking, etc. than I am in furry subculture. So while I love the furries in my life, and am happily furry-adjacent, I have not ever considered myself to be one.
Where did we meet?
You may have met me at a convention. I used to work for FurCon at the exec level, and even chaired it one year. You could have met met at San Jose State University, where I did my undergraduate studies. If you grew up in the East Bay, you might have met me when we were both younger. If my name change has you confused, you're always welcome to ask me how we met. I might not remember either!
